Week 1 MTC
We have completed our first week at the MTC. We are home for Saturday and will return Sunday afternoon to participate in 2 devotionals.
The best way to describe the week would be exhausting, both mentally and spiritually. They don’t take it easy on the seniors. We have classes or meetings that begin at 8 in the morning and end at 8 or 9 at night.
We have one set of a recently returned elder and sister teachers for morning classes and another set for our afternoon classes. In between classes and in the evenings we have other meetings with the other seniors and for 2 evenings, the young missionaries.
We have classes with our district of 4 couples. There were about 50 seniors that started with us last Monday, including several senior sisters without husbands.
Very few of the seniors are going on foreign missions since borders are still closed.
We have had many spiritual experiences and often end class sessions in tears. As we have gotten to know the other couples, we discovered that everyone has challenges that make it difficult to serve. Yet they all put their faith in the Lord and go anyway.
This last week was Preach My Gospel training and next week will be specific Member Leader Support training. We have an appointment to teach a zoom lesson to a nonmember on Wednesday.
We are enjoying the MTC. The only complaint is that Deanne is having trouble stomaching cafeteria food. We do look forward to getting to our assignment.
Thanks for your prayers. We need them.
Love,
Elder and Sister Curtis
