Thanksgiving

We went on a nice hike in Starved Rock State Park.

We had a great week this last week.  We were able to spend Thanksgiving with a family in Ottawa.  We literally went over the river and through the woods to go to dinner. We have also started visiting members homes to give a Christmas message and share the Light the World Calendar along with a box of fudge and a nativity Christmas ornament with them.  We have starting showing the church video called “The Christ Child” and have had a great experience every time.  We look forward to continuing to visit members everyday through December.

This last week we started volunteering at the Ottawa Food Basket on Wednesday afternoons.  We help customers fill their orders and then help them out to their cars.  In between customers, we help restock shelves.  We plan on doing this every Wednesday afternoon as long as we don’t have other schedule conflicts.

We also were able to go to the Chicago Illinois temple for the first time on Saturday along with five other members.  The temple is about 1 ½ hours away.  The temple is small, but very beautiful.  Deanne and I were the witness couple and we had a very spiritual experience in the temple.

We missed being with family on Thanksgiving, but we were made to feel very welcome here.  Everyone look at the Light the World Calendar to get suggestions for following Jesus Christ’s example through the month of December.

Love,

Elder and Sister Curtis

This is the setting sun at the end of the street.
It looks like a fire.
