Light the World Visits and Chicago
Fudge for our district missionaries
This is a little later this time because we have been busy most evenings. We have been spending most of our time visiting members of the ward and presenting a Christmas “Light the World” message. We have had a good time showing “The Christ Child” video and talking about Christmas. As we get to know the members better, we are getting more leads about who we should visit. We have also been making fudge and giving the members a treat along with a nativity Christmas tree ornament. Things were a little slow for the first two or three weeks we were here since we didn’t know anyone yet and it was hard to get into homes. However, the visits seem to be picking up as we go.
We have also had a lot of missionary meetings. We drive to Joliet for district council meetings and zone council meetings on alternating weeks. We also have a ½ hour training session over Zoom every Tuesday morning and a brief Zoom meeting every Thursday night. This next week we go into Naperville for a zone conference on Tuesday and to the Chicago temple on Wednesday. We continue to have a lot of love and respect for the young missionaries. They are all very dedicated to spreading the gospel.
We took our first real preparation day of the mission last week and drove into Chicago. The city is about 1 ½ hours to drive in and about 2 ½ hours to drive back home (because of traffic). We really loved the city. We went down town and did a little Christmas shopping along the Magnificent Mile. The architecture in the city is amazing. We also had some of Chicago’s deep dish pizza and loved it. The downtown area of Chicago is very clean and very safe.
We have included a few pictures from the past week.
We love you all.
