February
We hope everyone is surviving winter so far. February 2nd came again, and Woodstock Willie (the actual groundhog from the movie “Ground Hog Day”) predicted six more weeks of winter. Willie lives in Woodstock, Illinois, a little north of our zone. This town is where the movie was filmed. We have a ground hog here in Utica, but so far it looks like his burrow is still covered in snow, so he has yet to come out and make a prediction.
We are doing well. January was very gray, but it didn’t get that cold and we didn’t get a lot of snow. It got real cold for a few days at the end of December and then again for a few days the end of January. Today the sun is out and the temperature is in the 40s.
We have been doing much of the same, but we have more opportunities to meet and serve people as we get to know them better and better. We have had more opportunities to teach the gospel and we are currently working with several people. We have also done more family history work by helping members enter information into FamilySearch. The ward here is great and it will be very hard when it is time to leave.
We are also spending a lot of time with the missionaries. We have district council every week and we are still inspecting the apartments in our zone once each six-week transfer. We have also been attending the temple each transfer to be with the departing missionaries. The pictures this time are all missionaries since the other scenery wasn’t great during the gray January.
We feel really good about what we are doing. We see many small miracles in peoples’ lives as they try to get closer to God and the Savior.
We love you and miss you.
